Sixteenth apparition (March 25 –

Feast of the Annunciation) Bernardita arrived at the Grotto on the first morning, and found the Lady in waiting, surrounded by a clearing of celestial light standing on the rose bush. A lot of people were present. The girl began to recite as always the holy Rosary.

Bernardita asked the Lady again..» do you want to be kind enough to tell me who you are and what your name is?» (the vision shore brighter than ever; always smiling, and his smile being the only answer). Bernardita insisted…»do you want to tell me who you are?, I beg you Mrs. Mine

Then the Lady looked away from Bernardita, separated her hands, made the rosary on her fingers slide on her arm, raised at the same time her hands and her radiant head, while her hands joined in front of her chest, her head was affirmed and, more resplendent than the sunlight , directed the view to the sky said:

«I AM THE IMMACULATE CONCEPTION«, and so disappeared, leaving in Bernardita this image and that name

Bernardita, I heard those words for the first time. As she made her way to the parish house, to tell the parish priest (since he had given her the task of asking the vision what it was called), she went all the way repeating «Immaculate Conception», those words so mysterious and difficult for an illiterate girl.

When the seer arrived with the parish priest he asked: «The Lady is perhaps the Blessed Virgin?» and Bernardita replied: «NO, I think not, It is the Immaculate Conception

As soon as he heard that devotional title the priest was convinced of the apparition since Bernardita could never have known that name. An educated lady explained to the seer what that name meant, then Bernardita was sure that the «Lady» was the Virgin
