La crisis ucraniana no se debe al deseo del presidente Vladímir Putin de expandir las fronteras de Rusia, sino a la ambición de políticos occidentales de incorporar Ucrania a la Unión Europea y la OTAN, según el periodista Christopher Booker.

El columnista de ‘The Daily Telegraph’ escribe que las acciones de Moscú que Occidente califica como «inaceptables» -teniendo en cuenta la reunificación de Crimea con Rusia-, fueron previsibles y provocadas por las «ilusiones vanagloriosas» de los líderes occidentales.

Booker señaló que el problema no consiste en que los líderes occidentales no saben qué hacer con Putin y la horrible guerra en Ucrania, sino en que «Occidente ha estado equivocado sobre esta crisis desde que estalló a principios de este año».
