The Feast of Mercy
………
……
The Feast of Mercy is celebrated on the first Sunday after Easter, which is the second Sunday of Easter, which is currently known as Divine Mercy Sunday.
……
…..
The inspiration that led to the institution of this feast in the Church came from the desire that Jesus had communicated to Sister Faustina. Jesus said to him: I want the first Sunday after Easter to be the Feast of Mercy.

…………
The image of Merciful Jesus, which is also known as the Divine Mercy image, is one of the most famous images of the crucified and risen Christ in the history of the Church and the world. It is an extraordinary image, not only because it is so well known in so many countries, but above all because its co-author is Jesus himself, who appeared to Saint Faustina showing himself as he appears in the image when she was in her cell, in the convent. of the Congregation of the Sisters of the Mother of God of Mercy, in Plock, on February 22, 1931.

There Jesus asked her to paint this image. At nightfall, while I was in my cell – she narrated Saint Faustina in her Diary – I saw the Lord Jesus dressed in a white tunic. He had one hand raised to bless and with the other touched the tunic on his chest. From the opening of the tunic on the chest, two large rays came out: one red and the other pale (…). After a moment, Jesus told me: Paint an image according to the model you see, and sign: Jesus, I trust in You. I want this image to be venerated first in his chapel and then throughout the world (Diary 47).
