La Agencia de Proyectos de Investigación Avanzados de Defensa (DARPA, por sus siglas en inglés) del Departamento de Defensa de Estados Unidos a cargo del desarrollo de nuevas tecnologías para uso militar asegura que está trabajando en la creación de organismos modificados genéticamente capaces de convertir Marte en un planeta verde y azul parecido a la Tierra. …..

Los científicos de DARPA quieren cambiar las condiciones en el Planeta Rojo para hacerlas más semejantes a las de la Tierra, lo cual implica calentar el planeta y espesar su atmósfera, escribe el sitio informativo Motherboard.

Para ello DARPA cuenta con la ayuda del software ‘DTA GView’, que les permite escoger los mejores genes de cualquier forma de vida y modificarlos con el fin de diseñar nuevos tipos de organismos extremófilos capaces de sobrevivir en un terreno baldío lleno de cicatrices como el de Marte.
