SUMMARY OF THE APPARITIONS

Making a brief summary of the apparitions, let’s look at what Bernardita wrote to Father Gondrand in 1861: One day I went to the bank of the River Gave to collect firewood with two other girls. Then I heard like a noise. I looked at the prairie, but the trees weren’t moving. I then raised my head towards the grotto and saw a woman dressed in white, with a sky blue belt and on each of her feet a yellow rose, the same color as the beads of her rosary

Believing myself to be deceived, I rubbed my eyes. I put my hand in my pocket to look for my rosary. I wanted to make the sign of the cross, but I was unable to bring my hand to my forehead. When the Lady made the sign of the cross, I tried too and, although my hand was shaking, I managed to do it. I began to pray the rosary, while the Lady was reeling off her beads, although without leaving her lips. At the end of the rosary, the vision faded

I then asked the two girls if they had seen anything. They denied it and asked me if I had to make any discoveries to them. I told them that I had seen a woman dressed in white, but I didn’t know who it was. I asked them not to tell. They advised me not to go back there anymore, which I opposed. On Sunday I came back, because I felt internally that I was being pushed…

That Lady didn’t speak to me until the third time, and asked me if I would want to go for a fortnight. I said yes, and she added that she should warn the priests to build a chapel there. He then ordered me to drink from the fountain. Seeing no source, I went to the River Gave, but she told me she wasn’t talking about that river, and pointed her finger at the fountain. I approached, and found only a little water in the mud. I put my hand in, and I could barely get anything out, so I started to dig in and in the end I was able to get some water out; for three times I threw it and the fourth time I could drink. Then the vision disappeared and I left.

I went there again for a fortnight. The Lady appeared to me as usual, minus a Monday and a Friday. He always told me to warn the priests that they should build a chapel for him, he commanded me to wash myself at the fountain and pray for the conversion of sinners. I asked him several times who he was, to which he replied with a slight smile. Finally, raising his arms and eyes to heaven, he said to me: «I am the Immaculate Conception

On the day of Corpus Christi there were more than six thousand pilgrims in the grotto. And there was the healing of a child attacked by infantile spinal paralysis. After having laid him naked under the jets of water from the fountain, he was dried and, soon after, he began to walk effortlessly. Dr. Dozous certified it as a miracle that occurred before his eyes and before more than a hundred people, who were direct witnesses
