Francisco de Asis and his preaching to the birds

.
One day he came to a village called Alviano to preach the word of God; climbing to a high place so that everyone could see him, he asked them to keep quiet. While everyone was quiet and in a reverent attitude, the many swallows that made their nests in those places chirped and made no small noise. And such was the noise of the birds that blessed Francisco could not make himself heard by the people; he turned to them and said: «My sisters swallows: the time has come for me to speak; you guys have talked enough so far. Hear the word of God and be silent and still while I preach the word of God.» And the swallows, to the astonishment and admiration of the attendees, immediately became silent and did not move from that place until the preaching was over.

Contemplating such a spectacle, people, amazed, said to themselves: «Truly this man is a saint and friend of the Most High.» And with all devotion they hastened to even touch her dress, praising and blessing the Lord
