Un proyecto patrocinado por el Department of Environment, Farm and Rural Affairs del Reino Unido ha investigado la posibilidad de introducir los altramuces en los piensos sustituyendo a la soja como fuente de proteína.

Investigadores de los sectores ganadero y agrícola británicos en cooperación con el Department of Environment, Farm and Rural Affairs (DEFRA) han llevado a cabo un proyecto de cinco años de duración en el que se ha investigado la posibilidad de utilizar fuentes alternativa de proteína vegetal en alimentación animal.

Los estudios de campo han probado la eficacia de diversas fuentes proteicas y han concluido que los altramuces pueden utilizarse como sustitutivos de la soja, ya que tienen unos niveles de proteína bruta del 30-40%.
